ACCESS

By Air

There are three airports within easy reach of Ribérac (no more than 90 minutes drive). Bergerac is the closest and now served by both Ryanair and Flybe flying to/from many UK destinations including London Stansted, Birmingham, Bristol, Exeter, Leeds, Liverpool, Nottingham and Southampton (check schedules through links on this website). Mérignac Airport at Bordeaux is served regularly by Air France, British Airways, KLM, Lufthansa, Maersk and many other airlines operating across Europe. Angoulême will be opening to flights from the UK in 2007. Several car hire companies service both Bergerac and Mérignac airports.

By Rail

Angoulême (45 minutes drive) is probably the most convenient railway station since it is on the TGV line between Paris and Bordeaux and car hire facilities are available close to the station. Alternatively, Périgueux is closer (30 minutes drive), but from Paris it may be necessary to change train at Limoges. Nearby railway stations include Mussidan and St. Astier which are on the local railway between Périgueux and Bordeaux (Gare St. Jean). Sadly, the railway station at Siorac de Ribérac (which still exists) closed about 35 years ago!

By Road

When travelling from the north of France, Tours, Poitiers and Angoulême provide the fastest route. When circulating Angoulême, follow the signs for Périgueux and proceed 29 kms along the D939 as far as Rochebeaucourt. Turn right off the D939 on to the D708 and proceed 28 kms to Ribérac. From Ribérac follow directions to Mussidan south along the D709. Six kms from Ribérac (immediately after the cross-roads where the St. Astier to Aubeterre road crosses) Siorac de Ribérac is indicated to the right. Drive down through the village descending the hill with the church and the “Marie” on the right in the direction of St. André de Double. The road does a sharp right hand bend as it exits the village and then a long left hand bend as it follows the direction of the valley. La Meynardie is the first and only house on the right after this bend and it is indicated with a sign on the road itself.

Siorac de Ribérac is located just 20 minutes north of a new motorway the N89 crossing France from west (Bordeaux) to east (Lyon) making the drive to/from the Alps, Switzerland, Italy and Bordeaux itself, considerably easier. The motorway can be accessed at St. Astier, Mussidan or Montpon-Ménestérol.
